Are you connected to Official and Unofficial GSK Council sites? 5 Suggestions. A post for Leaders and other Volunteers.

Let's get Connected, Girl Scouts!! (5 Suggestions. Plus more).

For Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana Leaders and Volunteers.

Hello, and hope you are having a great year.

It's time for graduations, maybe trips, sometimes Early Registration (Early Bird for troops), awards, camp registration, and more.

Q: Are you connected to your areas's Official and Unofficial pages?

Here is another list for you to help you get connected (if you aren't already).

#1. Connect to MYGS. Make sure you are registered for the current year. Also, register your troop EARLY here. You will be put on an official list to get emails, featuring events and current happenings! If you are not getting this important email, "News You Can Use", be sure to check on that link at the Council Site. That page is here: https://www.gskentuckiana.org/.

(After going to the site, click on the MYGS tab at the top to get started.)

If you are having any problems, just contact GSK staff here: https://www.gskentuckiana.org/en/our-council/web-to-case.html via email, phone, or form.

#2. Get in touch with your Service Unit Manager. When are your meetings? Be sure to attend these throughout the year, especially if you are a leader. Some Service Units have Unofficial Facebook or other pages, too. Ask about these. If you do not know who your SU Manager is, just ask at the GSK Contact page: https://www.gskentuckiana.org/en/our-council/web-to-case.html.

Also, your Area has meetings, too. Just as, your Service Unit Manager about that, or contact GSK here: https://www.gskentuckiana.org/en/our-council/web-to-case.html.

#3. Join the GSK Official Facebook page. It is here: https://www.facebook.com/GSKentuckiana.

#4. Join some Unofficial Girl Scout pages. There are many. Some are for your council, some are about Girl Scout Governance, (and how to get involved in that), pages about our wonderful camps, and more. They are fun and informational.

#5. Take some Girl Scout trainings! It will help you meet other Volunteers, make new friends, learn about all kinds of opportunities, and makes things SO much easier. You can learn about how to get the girls Outdoors, special events, fun tips, how to be a Trainer, and more. Find out about available trainings at the GSK website here: https://www.gskentuckiana.org/en/for-volunteers/training.html.

And here is a Spring and Summer Event Guide, too, for you to download, print out, and use.

I hope you had a GREAT year as a Leader or other Volunteer! Leave your comments below about your year, interests, questions, etc.

My posting about KYGivesDay! It's tomorrow, and I am helping. Come visit!

 READ ALL ABOUT IT!

I am helping fundraise for my council TOMORROW.

Here is my About Me page (at the bottom) and my GIVING PAGE for tomorrow - - in case you have not already seen it.

https://www.kygives.org/p2p/256134/elizabeth-hirst

Hello, friends and readers!

I am fund-raising on May 10th (all day!). Our Girl Scout council is fundraising that day for all areas.

Let me tell you a little about me, and about Girl Scouting. I made wonderful friends as a girl in Girl Scouting in Wisconsin. Then I moved to Kentucky and helped some with my Mom's troop while in college. When I was older, I was a leader too! I now am a Girl Scout Trainer, and love to teach Songs and Games.

Girl Scouting is a wonderful Movement. It does great things for girls. It helps them become #GirlScoutStrong. I believe in Girl Scouting.

The picture above was taken in Tennessee, at a Girl Scout event.

I am so proud of our council. We have NOT closed our camps. I am so proud of that! But because of Covid, and to help more girls, I am asking that everyone who can, send in support today.

Can you donate to the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana for Kentucky Gives Day? Just give what you can. It's SO important!

Thank you ahead of time. You are awesome!!! Here are some of our best times to give. (But you can give anytime from 5 a.m. to midnight.)

(Tuesday, May 10th)

10-11 a.m. Morning Power Hour - Organization with the most unique donors receives 250.00!

4-5 p.m. Happy Hour Power Hour - ditto.

9-10 p.m. Night Owl Power Hour - double ditto.

I will be posting on Facebook, Twitter, and more. Give a little, or give a lot. It will be VERY VERY appreciated.

STAY AWESOME!!

 Hi, all!

I have not posted here in my Unofficial GS News blog for awhile.

But thought I'd share my Facebook posting for Giving for Good Day today!

GOT AN EXTRA $10 or MORE? You can support ALL AREAS of Girl Scouts in the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana today. We have some of our Members - Staff and Volunteers alike - fundraising today. We have some fun contests and people you can select for your donation. Please help! Our Council is working hard to save their GIRL SCOUT CAMPS, which is so important. Plus, "Your donation will assist in our mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character." Here are a few pages I see on my Facebook Feed today, in the order of seeing them. I plan to support them however I can. Every donation helps, NO MATTER HOW SMALL. (There is a $10 minimum). More can be found at the Give for Good page - - that link is at the bottom of this posting. Sharing the Linktree site for Girl Scouts, and sharing other Official GSUSA sites to explore.

Hello, fellow Girl Scouts. I hope you are well and happy today.

I have some great and popular Official Girl Scout pages to share with you today. There are just PARTIAL pictures of them.

#1: The Official Girl Scouts of the USA website: https://www.girlscouts.org/

Right now there is a link to buy Girl Scout Cookies no matter where you live. I think this is a great idea. Another place that is good to follow is the Girl Scouts at Home page: https://www.girlscouts.org/en/girl-scouts-at-home.html. It has great VIRTUAL activities there, for troops, girls, and leaders.

#2. The Official Girl Scout Blog

and FB page.

#3. Girl Scouts on Twitter

and Instagram

AND #4. (new-ish - saw on Instagram) Girl Scouts on Linktree

(There are more categories here on Linktree too... this is just the top section.)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I was going also to put UNofficial sites to explore here - but that will be for another day. In the meantime, go to Facebook if you use it, and search for Girl Scouts in your area.

If you are in the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana Council, you may want to search for your own Area page there, and the KYANA pages too - for Camp Pages just search for KYANA plus the name of the camp. KYANA Volunteers are also there.

If you love the Outdoors, try going to the Outdoor Girl Scout Project (Unofficial) and applying to join. It's here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/outdoor.journey.

All for today! Happy Girl Scout exploring today.

COVID Guidance

At Girl Scouts, there is nothing we take more seriously than the safety and well-being of our girls, volunteers, and council staff. We understand that our members need guidance on what is safe for troops and groups as we navigate COVID-19. So, with the recommendations of the CDC, Kentucky Department for Public Health and the Indiana State Department of Health, we have put together relevant information for troop and group activities, travel, and use of GSK camp properties.

Please find our complete COVID Guidance page on the GSK website here.
